What's changing with my physiotherapy benefits?

From 13 January 2027, the amount you get back for physiotherapy services will vary depending on the provider you visit. Your level of cover and annual limit will stay the same and you can still visit any recognised physiotherapy provider in Australia

  • If you visit a First Choice network physiotherapist: There’s no change and you’ll continue to get a percentage of the provider’s fee back, based on your level of cover.
  • If you visit a non-First Choice provider:  You will get a set amount back for each eligible service.

This is because First Choice providers have agreed fees with nib, helping give you more certainty about your out-of-pocket costs. Whereas, Non-First Choice providers set their own fees, so your out-of-pocket cost may vary depending on the provider’s fee, the service you receive and your level of cover. Before your next appointment, use the Find a Provider tool to check whether your physiotherapist is in the First Choice network.
