What is a First Choice network optical provider and how do I find one?

The First Choice optical network includes selected providers who offer eligible members agreed rates* and access to discounts and No Gap^ offers on selected optical products. The network includes more than 900 optical providers across Australia, including Specsavers, Bailey Nelson, The Optical Company, OPSM and Laubman & Pank, helping cater for a range of optical needs.

Before your next appointment or purchase, use the Find a Provider tool to check whether your optical provider is part of the First Choice network or you can find a First Choice optical provider near you.

Visiting a First Choice network optical provider means:

  • You’ll get a percentage of your optical provider’s fee back on eligible items, based on your level of cover and up to your annual limit.
  • You can access a range of agreed rates* and discounts designed to help lower your out-of-pocket costs.
  • Depending on your cover, you may be able to access No Gap^ offers on selected glasses and contact lenses through participating First Choice providers.\

nib First Choice providers (i.e. our network) offer competitive fees for many commonly claimed treatments and consultations. These fees are reviewed at least annually and are subject to change. Always check nib.com.au/health-services/find-a-provider before booking to see if your provider participates or simply ask your provider if they are part of nib’s network at the time of booking. Providers occasionally leave the nib First Choice network so it’s important to check before booking to avoid disappointment. Annual limits, waiting periods and T&Cs apply.

^Claiming optical benefits from nib is subject to your chosen level of Extras cover, relevant waiting periods being served, and sufficient annual limits remaining.
