Could I pay more out-of-pocket costs?

What you pay may vary depending on the optical provider’s price, the item you purchase and your level of cover. Your annual optical limit will stay the same and you can continue to visit any recognised optical provider in Australia.

At a non-First Choice provider, you’ll receive a set benefit amount towards each eligible optical items. If the provider charges more than this amount, you will have an out-of-pocket cost and you’ll need to pay the difference.

At a First Choice optical provider, you’ll continue to get a percentage of the provider’s fee back, based on your level of cover.
