Troubleshooting Android Permissions for Google Health & Wellbeing

To resolve step and activity syncing issues between Google Health (Fitbit) and the Qantas Wellbeing App on Android, you must connect Google Health to Health Connect and ensure all required Health, Fitness and Wellness, Physical Activity, and Background Data permissions are enabled across your app and device settings.

  2. Access Partner Apps
    1. Tap your Profile icon in the top-right corner.
    2. Select Partner apps from the account menu.
  3. Set Up Health Connect Sync
    1. Under Action needed, tap Sync your favourite health apps (or tap Set up under Health Connect).
  4. Grant Health Connect Access
    1. Review the data sharing terms and tap Accept.
    2. Under What data would you like to sync?, select Fitness and wellness data and tap Continue.
    3. Tap Done to complete connecting Google Health to Health Connect.
  5. Confirm Connection
    1. Return to Partner apps and verify that Fit (or Google Health) and Wellbeing are listed under Connected.

2. Configure Permissions in Health Connect

Ensure both Google Health and Wellbeing are granted proper Activity permissions directly within the Health Connect app

  1. Open Health Connect Settings
    1. Open the Health Connect app or navigate to Settings > Health Connect on your Android device.
  2. Grant Write Access for Google Health
    1. Select Health (or Google Health / Fit) from the app list.
    2. Under Allowed to read or Allowed to write, select Activity and toggle the switch to ON (blue) to allow sharing.
  3. Grant Read Access for Wellbeing
    1. Go back to the main Health Connect menu and select Wellbeing.
    2. Select Activity under Allowed to read and toggle the switch to ON (blue) to allow reading data.

3. Connect Health Connect in the Qantas Wellbeing App

Next, grant the Qantas Wellbeing App access to read your activity data from Health Connect

  1. Open the Wellbeing App & Grant Activity Access
    1. Launch the Qantas Wellbeing App.
    2. When prompted for physical activity permission, tap Allow.
  2. Select Health Connect as Data Source
    1. Go to Profile > Settings > Data Sources > Health Connect
    2. Choose the activity type you want to track (e.g., Steps or Workouts)
  3. Allow Fitness and Wellness Data Access
    1. When the Health Connect permission window opens, toggle Allow all to ON (blue) or ensure Activity and Steps are checked under Allow 'Wellbeing' to read.
    2. Tap Allow at the bottom.
  4. Enable Background Data Access
    1. When prompted Allow Wellbeing to access data in the background?, tap Allow.
    2. A tick icon in the Wellbeing App will confirm that Health Connect is connected.

4. Verify Device App Permissions in Android Settings

If step or activity counts still do not update, verify that all necessary device permissions are enabled in your Android phone settings:

    1. On your Android home screen or app tray, press and hold the Wellbeing app icon.
    2. Tap App Info (or the i information icon).

  4. Verify Physical Activity Permission
    1. Under Permissions, tap Physical activity and select Allow.
  5. Check Allowed Permissions Summary
