Connecting Your Qantas Wellbeing App to Google Health Connect

Important information: Transitioning your Android device from Google Fit to Google Health Connect

Google is updating the way your health and fitness apps work together. This involves storing your activity data in Google Health Connect which acts as a central and secure hub.

What does this mean for you?

From 2026, you will no longer be able to sync your health activity data directly between Google Fit and the Qantas Wellbeing App.

To continue tracking your activities and earning Qantas Points, you will need to sync your Google Fit activity via Health Connect which will be available on the Qantas Wellbeing App from 22 July 2025.

As a result of these changes, we’ve amended our Terms of Use. You can view the updated Terms of Use in your Qantas Wellbeing App under Settings > Legal Information.

Please note that Android 8 and below operating systems will no longer be supported by the Qantas Wellbeing App.

How to get started:

1. Check requirements

  • Ensure you have access to the Google Play Store.
  • Make sure your Android phone is running Android 9 or higher.
  • Update to the latest version of the Qantas Wellbeing App.

2. Install Health Connect

  1. Download the Health Connect App, if not already installed;
  2. Once installed, continue to the next step.

3. Sync Google Fit with Health Connect

  1. Open the Google Fit App;
  2. Sync Fit with Health Connect by selecting Get Started;
  3. Continue Set up by selecting the data permissions you want to share (for syncing your Qantas Wellbeing App Activities, you will need to set permissions for “Steps” for Step Activity, and “Exercise” for Swimming and Cycling Activity);
  4. Tap Allow.

Note: Google Fit must sync with Health Connect to share your activity data with the Qantas Wellbeing App. We will not receive data from any other apps that sync to Health Connect.

If you need any additional help, please refer to the Google support page here for useful information about setting up Health Connect.

4. Set up Health Connect in the Qantas Wellbeing App

  1. Open the Qantas Wellbeing App;
  2. Go to Profile > Settings > Data Sources > Health Connect;
  3. Select the type of activity you would like to track;
  4. Health Connect will open to request access permissions to relevant data types;
  5. Review the permissions carefully and read the privacy information;
  6. Select the data types requiring read access for your selected activity and tap Allow;
  7. When prompted to access data in background, tap Allow to enable background data syncing;
  8. If requested, follow the prompts to Turn on usage access;
  9. Return to the Qantas Wellbeing App if not automatically redirected. A tick icon will confirm that you are connected to Health Connect.

To select another activity type to track, please repeat steps 4 - 9.

Note: To ensure immediate sync, tap the Sync Now option within the Daily or Weekly Challenge section in the Qantas Wellbeing App or by refreshing the activity dashboard.
