Roadside assistance is a service that helps you if your car breaks down or experiences other mechanical issues while you’re out on the road.
Within the terms of our Fair Use Policy,* Qantas Roadside Assistance is an optional extra that includes unlimited callouts with a team of over 2,700 service providers to help get you on your way again, faster. Plus, you’ll earn 1 Qantas Point for every $1 spent on your membership.^
Our Roadside Assistance provides help if your vehicle:
breaks down and needs towing to the nearest suitable repairer;
has a flat battery and needs to be jump-started;
runs out of fuel and you need enough to get you to the nearest service station;
has a flat tyre;
is locked and the keys are inside; or
is involved in an accident. (Advice and coordination only. Any associated costs are not covered under your roadside assistance membership)
It’s peace of mind, helping you get back on the road when you need it.
How does roadside assistance work?
When you call Qantas Roadside Assistance, we’ll start by asking you a few questions about your car to help figure out what’s gone wrong (if it’s not already clear).
If we can’t sort it out quickly over the phone, we’ll send either a roadside contractor or a tow truck to help you.
If we send a contractor, they’ll in most cases be able to get you on your way again; in the unlikely event they can’t, we can arrange for your car to be towed.
Does Qantas Roadside Assistance cover the car or the driver?
Qantas Roadside Assistance covers the vehicle. It provides assistance for your nominated vehicle, regardless of who’s driving it at the time it breaks down.
Is Qantas Roadside Assistance included with car insurance or is it an extra?
Qantas Roadside Assistance is an optional extra for less than $1.80 a week. You can choose to add it to your policy for an additional cost at any time.
Can I get Qantas Roadside Assistance 24/7?
Yes, Qantas Roadside Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Will Qantas Roadside Assistance come to my house?
Yes, Qantas Roadside Assistance will assist you whether you’re at home or on the road.
How do I request Qantas Roadside Assistance?
Qantas Roadside Assistance provides members with unlimited callouts within a 12-month period, subject to our Fair Use Policy. This policy is in place to ensure the service is used for genuine roadside breakdowns, and not as a substitute for regular vehicle maintenance or to address recurring mechanical issues.
Where is Qantas Roadside Assistance available?
Qantas Roadside Assistance is available in what is called our ‘‘service area”. This is an area in mainland Australia, Tasmania and Phillip Island that is trafficable by two-wheel-drive recovery vehicles; or an island that is accessible by a two-wheel-drive-vehicular bridge (excluding ferries). Please note that our service area is different to our service limits.
Can I get Qantas Roadside Assistance in all states and territories?
Yes, Qantas Roadside Assistance offers services in all states and territories in Australia. Our customers can call on a national network of more than 2,700 service providers, including technicians, battery specialists, locksmiths and tow-truck operators.
Can I get Qantas Roadside Assistance in remote areas?
Yes, however, our service limit is a 50km round trip from the nearest roadside contractor’s base or accredited service provider (e.g. mechanic). If we have to travel farther to assist you, you’ll be required to pay the extra cost, which we’ll let you know about beforehand.
Please note that we can only assist in areas accessible by a two-wheel-drive recovery vehicle, so if you spend a lot of time driving in rural and remote areas, you might want to consider getting cover from a provider with larger service limits.
