How to claim on your health insurance
Hospital claims
1
Check your cover
Before going to hospital, we recommend you check:
- the procedure is covered
- any waiting periods that apply to the procedure have been served, and
- if an excess is payable.
2
Choose your specialist & hospital
Qantas Health Insurance offers the flexibility to choose your own specialist and hospital, as long as the specialist's professional qualifications are recognised by nib.1
To help our members keep out-of-pocket costs down, our partner, nib has relationships with selected providers and you can use the Find a Provider tool to search:
- specialists in your area who participate in the nib MediGap scheme or have a no gap agreement with nib, and
- private hospitals that have agreements with nib, known as nib Agreement Private Hospitals.
If the specialist or hospital you choose does not have an agreement with nib then you may incur additional costs. Call us on 13 49 60 if you’re unsure and we can let you know your options.
