There are many reasons to consider travel insurance for Bali. If things don’t go to plan, travel insurance can help protect you from the unexpected, including:
Medical expenses: From a case of “Bali Belly” to other unexpected medical concerns if you get sick or injured, healthcare in Bali can be costly. Travel insurance can cover you for things like medical bills, hospitalisation, and emergency medical evacuation.
Trip cancellation: Unexpected events can disrupt travel plans. Travel insurance can reimburse non-refundable prepaid expenses, if you have to cancel your trip due to a covered event.
Lost or stolen luggage: Theft, especially of bags and valuables, can happen in crowded areas. Travel insurance can cover you if your luggage is lost, stolen or damaged while travelling.
Scooter and motorcycle cover: Renting a scooter is a popular way to explore Bali, but accidents can happen. Make sure you wear a helmet, have an appropriate licence, and follow traffic and safety rules. Travel insurance can cover medical expenses if you get injured. Be sure to review your travel insurance policy carefully to understand the terms and conditions that apply whether you are a driver or rider of a scooter or motorcycle.
Rental vehicle excess cover: Travel insurance can cover your excess due for damage to a rental car or motorbike if you’re involved in an accident.
While taking out travel insurance can help protect you on your Bali trip, there are also a few safety tips that are important to keep in mind:
General precautions: Be mindful of your belongings, especially in crowded areas. Opt for secure accommodation and use hotel safes for valuables. ATMs are widely available, but exercise caution when using them.
Traffic: Roads in Bali can be busy. Taxis are metered, but agree on the fare beforehand. Renting a scooter requires caution due to uneven roads and heavy traffic. Always wear a helmet and ensure you have the right driving permits or licences.
