Qantas has been recognised at this year's Finder Awards with a “highly commended” in the best domestic travel insurance category.
The annual Finder Travel Insurance Awards is an independent awards program that celebrates the best travel insurance products across several categories including:
Best domestic travel insurance;
Best international travel insurance for value; and
Best international travel insurance for comprehensiveness.
Qantas Travel Insurance stood out amongst the competition for its generous benefit limits while still being on the more affordable end.
How Finder chose its winner
Each brand was scored according to 13 different product features including personal liability, lost luggage and belongings, and rental car excess.
Using 15 distinct customer profile examples, 450 different quotes were generated. The customer profiles used varied by age and gender, while the quotes selected included a range of domestic and international trip types and destinations.
The final score was calculated as a 70/30 split of features and price. This ratio was used to reflect the cost of living concerns currently impacting Australian customers.
One of the best domestic travel insurance policies
Here are some of the reasons Qantas was highly commended for domestic travel insurance in 2024:
Affordable Cover: Finder research found that compared to most policies, Qantas had higher benefit limits while still being budget-friendly compared to all other quotes.
Zero Excess Option: One of few providers to offer $0 policy excess on domestic travel with its Australian Comprehensive policy.
COVID-19 Cover: Up to $5,000 for trip cancellations if policyholders or someone close to them is diagnosed with COVID-19.
Cancellation Protection: Australian Comprehensive policy includes cover for up to $5,000 non-refundable trip cancellation costs before or during a trip.
Qantas Travel Insurance offers customers flexibility, including optional extras such as Snow Sports Cover. Customers also have the freedom to cancel their policies within 21 days of purchasing as long as they haven’t made a claim or left for their trip.
Multiple ways to earn Qantas Points
On top of affordable value, policyholders can maximise their travel benefits by earning Qantas Points on their insurance.
