How does optional cover work?

Everyone’s travel plans are different, and so are their insurance needs. That’s why Qantas Travel Insurance offers the following optional covers that can help you tailor your policy to suit your specific requirements:

Going on a cruise:

If you are going on a multi-night cruise, you might consider adding Cruise Cover. This optional cover offers added protection for things like the cancellation of your cruise before the cruise departs, missed shore excursion(s), onboard medical expenses, ship to shore evacuation, missed embarkation and cabin confinement.

For adventure seekers:

If you are going on a ski trip, you might consider adding Snow Sports Cover. This optional cover offers added protection for snow sports such as skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing while on your trip. It provides cover for emergency overseas medical costs if you’re injured during a snow sports activity, as well as costs for damaged equipment, pre-paid lift passes, lessons or ski gear hire and if the ski field is closed.

For those with Existing Medical Conditions:

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions that are not automatically included, we offer the option to apply for additional cover under the International Comprehensive, Australian Comprehensive and Annual Multi Trip plans. An online medical assessment will determine if we can cover your conditions and if an extra premium is applicable. This allows you to travel with added peace of mind. Please read the applicable PDS for full details as to what is and is not covered.

Protecting your valuables:

Do you have valuable items you'll be taking on your trip, like expensive jewellery, electronics, or sports equipment? Qantas Travel Insurance offers Specified Items Cover, which allows you to declare these items and insure them for their specific value, beyond the standard cover limits. You'll need to provide details and proof of value for these items, and an additional premium will apply, but it offers extra peace of mind knowing your valuables are protected.

This is a summary of cover and does not include the full terms, conditions, limits / sub-limits and exclusions. Please read the applicable PDS for full details as to what is and is not covered.
