Will COVID-19 be considered a pre-existing condition?

A pre-existing condition (PEC) is an ailment, illness, or condition where, in the view of a Medical Practitioner appointed by nib (our underwriter), signs or symptoms relating to that condition existed during the 6 months prior to joining private Hospital cover, or upgrading to a higher level of private Hospital cover. Any future claims for complications arising from COVID-19 will be assessed in line with our pre-existing illness policy, with the appointed Medical Practitioner to make a final determination at the time of enquiry.
