I am a student dependant studying full-time, am I eligible to stay on my family’s policy up until the age of 31?

At this stage a student dependant can stay on their family’s policy until they turn 25, and if they are:

  1. not a policy holder or partner;
  2. aged between 21 and up to 25;
  3. engaged in full time study; and
  4. not married or have a de facto partner.

We expect to introduce the increase to the maximum age from 25 to 31, for a student dependant by 2023.

In the meantime, from 1 October 2022, if a dependant reaches their 25th birthday, they can stay on their family’s policy as a non-student dependant up to their 31st birthday if they have finished their full-time studies and meet the eligibility criteria. Please note that when adding a non-student dependant to a policy, there may be an additional premium required which we can confirm at the time of the request.
